  2. This is BS. You cannot root a verizon phone with a locked bootloader and the newer safestrap methods which were root only and you couldnt flash custom roms doesnt work either. Either the person who posted this isnt up with the times or they are dumb. This could lead you to tripping knox and bricking your phone

    1. Actually you can root without an unlocked bootloader, you cannot install custom ROMS however. 4.3 had a locked bootloader and MANY of us were able to root. Do a little bit of research before calling someone dumb otherwise you might turn around and have your point become DUMB!

    2. Hey genius, the locked bootloader and root access are two entirely different concepts. Of course you can gain root access with a locked bootloader. And this method works 100% correct. The only BS is your rudimentary knowledge of Linux. Thanks and have a nice day.

  3. Did this actually work for anyone? I didn't think we had the capability because of Knox and the new bootloader

    1. Not only did it work, but it has worked on all 7 of the SCH-I605s that I've ran. Want to know my secret? I followed the fucking steps!

  4. Yes, Sadly this does/will not work. I don't think the author actually even tried it himself. With the new knox/bootloader/kernel, it's looking pretty bleak for those of us with a Galaxy Note 2 from Verizon. Too bad I didn't wait a few more months to get the Note 3 because that's easily rootable. The irony.

    1. Incorrect you are. Works flawlessly. Was able to flash Android 5.1 via CyanideL Custom ROM, Clockwork Mod Recovery, and the updated ND7 radio software. After tweaking and overclocking the processor, I am now running slightly faster on my SCH-I605 that the new Galaxy Note 4. Thanks guys for an excellent tutorial and root!

    1. How will I know if I have international version? I bought it in the states and I have already soft bricked one time and had to recover it thankfully after trying to unsuccessfully root it.

    2. Nope. Definitely for the U.S. model. Works perfectly.

  6. This will not work AT ALL. The author clearly doesnt know what they are talking about. I actually work as an Android Developer and anyone looking to root this phone after 4.4.2 update will either need to pay a company to downgrade your bootloader. It's known the CF auto root method does not work . There is also no safestrap for verizon note 2 after 4.4.2 update yet so no custom rom or recovery either.. This article like many on the internet is just regurgitating common info without regard for if it actually works on a particular update

    2. The CF Auto Root method works better than any other method I've been able to find. There are currently 3 verified working root methods for this model and Android version of the SCH-I605. The only BS appears to be your ability to read and apply a few simple steps.

    3. I've followed the instructions to the letter and it FAILS at the first step of RECOVERY. Instead of everyone claiming it is BS or people are not following instructions, it's more likely there are extra factors to consider and not everyone is in the same "state" on their phone.

  7. You can root with ghettoroot but it does not unlock bootloader so you cant install twrp recovery or a custom rom. Set the record straight.

  8. yes you are absolutely right. we can root but cant unlock boot loader nor flash twrp.

So I decided to do some more testing. I Odin'd back to factory ND7 and then tried to root again. I found out what was wrong. Steps to root:

    - Download 2.2 and 3.2
    - Place both folders in the root of C:
    - Open a CMD window with 'run as admin'
    - Type cd C:\ghettoroot-v0.3.2\tools\win\adb and run 'adb devices'
    - Type cd ..\..\..
    - Type install.cmd and let it run (you should be running 3.2)
    - Let the phone reboot and leave install mode
    - Run the cleanup and try again until it works
    - Navigate to C:\ghettoroot-v0.3.2\tools\win\adb and run 'adb devices'
    - Type cd C:\ghettoroot-v0.2.2\ghettoroot
    - Type install.cmd
    - Let the phone reboot
    - Run cleanup again when phone leaves install and you're done with root
    - Update SuperSU in the play store and reboot

    1. Finally!!! the instructions from Brooklyn-Bred Ed works!
used the steps 0.3.2 then ran 0.2.2 and it worked.
btw, I did have to go back to the original rom to start things off. ghettoroot did not see my phone.
The original file is I605VRUFND7_I605VZWFND7_VZW.zip so look for it, it's out there. I used Odin3_v3.10.6 to flash the rom to verizon 4.2.2 based on the instructions in the original article. That works without pain and in about 7 min. Then you can start with ghettoroot instructions.
      Thanks much.
